Making an Herbal Infusion Is Easy

Don’t let the words “herbal infusion” intimidate you! An herbal infusion is just like brewing tea, only you brew herbs instead. See… not scary at all! There are several methods of making herbal infusions. Loose herbs, herbs in an infusion ball and herbs in ‘tea’ bags are just a few ways I, personally, have made my own herbal infusions.   You can use fresh herbs or dried herbs; both are equally effective, but I find dried herbs are easiest to work with. If you choose to use fresh herbs, measure 2-3 teaspoons per cup of water. The measurement for dried herbs is less due to concentration of properties, so try 1-2 teaspoons per cup of water. How To Make an Infusion – Bring desired amount of water to a boil. {I like to make about 4 cups at a time so I can sip on it all day, but if I need a warm treat I just make a cup.} – Measure and prepare your herbs accordingly. – Pour the hot water over the herbs and cover. – Allow to steep for 5-15 minutes, depending on the desired strength. {For medicinal infusions, steep for 10-15 minutes. For a simple, delicious “tea”, 5 minutes is good! } – Strain herbs and enjoy!   Best Place to Get Herbal “Teas” I don’t know about you… but I have had some bad, bland, stale and down-right disgusting teas and herbal infusions. They definitely left a bad taste in my mouth {literally} for trying … Continue reading
